Odd Weather in the Panhandle (January - April 2014)

This year so far has had a wide range of crazy weather. We first experienced snow/ice in January, which is abnormal for any part of Florida. It was a pretty chilly winter to say the least. In April we experienced a storm unlike any we have had in this area. The rain poured and poured and poured....and poured for close to 20 hours. There was some serious flooding in some parts of the panhandle. Our yard had never been as flooded as it was, but fortunately the water did not flood the inside of our house. There were many effected by the flooding in the Pensacola and surrounding areas. Sadly, many did not carry flood insurance that lost their homes. It's during times like these that I am reminded to always be prepared.

The side of our yard turned into a creek

As you can see we were extremely blessed to have escaped this storm unscathed

This is what happened to a main road just a few miles down the road from our house
